Rishabh Pant led the Delhi Capitals to a convincing 4-run victory over the Gujarat Titans on Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Pant was unbeaten for a quick 88 runs. Splendid endeavours from GT’s David Mill operator and Sai Sudharsan ended up being of no use, with GT falling 4 runs short of DC’s impressive absolute of 224.

Being put to bat, DC lost opener Prithvi Shaw early, yet Jake Fraser-McGurk crushed 23 off 14 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes. In the interim, remarkable endeavours from captain Pant and Axar Patel bounced back DC, pushing them to a mammoth all out of 220. Together with captain Pant, Axar Patel smashed his 50 off 37 balls to support DC against GT’s solid bowling attack led by Sandeep Warrier, Rashid Khan, and Noor Ahmad.

When Pant took a liking to veteran Mohit Sharma and launched him for 31 runs, the stark difference in Pant’s innings was evident, propelling DC to a powerful total.

In their pursuit, GT got off to a good start, with Wriddhiman Saha scoring 39 on 25 attempts, but Shubman Gill fell behind early, scoring 6 off 5. David Miller and Sai Sudharsan got together, set records of 65 and 55, respectively, and gave GT’s chase new life.

Rashid Khan unleashed his assault with 19 runs left in the final over, taking on DC bowler Mukesh Kumar for two boundaries and a six. Though GT fell four runs short, Rashid’s 21 unbeaten runs brought GT so close to winning.
