On Friday at Eden Gardens, the Punjab Kings defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets, led by Englishman Jonny Bairstow’s stunning ton. In an incredible display of force-hitting and persevering endeavours, PBKS enrolled in a daring triumph. The Punjab Kings started off well, chasing KKR’s intimidating 261, with openers Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow scoring 54 and 108, respectively.

Prabhsimran Singh was, in the meantime, dismissed by Sunil Narine; however, that didn’t affect their pursuit, with Rilee Rossouw contributing with 26 out of 16. In-form Shashank Singh, on the other hand, made the most remarkable contribution, scoring 68 runs unbeaten off 28 deliveries with a slew of sixes and fours.

Despite not being at his best in previous games, Jonny Bairstow showed his worth with the bat by smashing nine sixes and eight boundaries. With their top order on fire, the Kolkata Knight Riders batted first and launched a relentless assault on the PBKS bowlers. KKR reached a formidable total of 261/4 in 20 overs thanks to the explosive contributions of openers Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, who each hit (75) and (71) to set a daunting target for PBKS to chase. The significant cameo of captain Shreyas Iyer, who scored 28 runs, including three sixes and one four, put the team in a better position.
