The BCCI has introduced a momentous ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme’ that will help the players arrange to play the game’s longest format.

Under the newly introduced plan, players playing XIs for over 50% of games in a season will be boosted to an INR of 30 lakhs for every match. Those not playing XI will get INR 15 lakhs as an incentive for each match.

Moreover, players who are important for 75% of Test matches will get the impetus of 45 lakhs for every match (playing XI). Those not being essential for the XI will have the advantage of INR 22.5 lakhs.

The BCCI’s secretary, Jay Shah, expressed that introducing the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Plan’ for senior men will give monetary sustainability and growth to esteemed players. He also added that starting from the 2022–23 season, the ‘Test Cricket Incentive Scheme” will act as an extra reward structure on top of the current match expense for Test matches, set at Rs 15 lakh.
