On Sunday at Eden Gardens, the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by one run after Mitchell Starc held his nerve. Mitchell Starc was taken for three sixes by Karn Sharma, clouting them on the first, third, and fourth deliveries, defending 20 runs off the final over. Starc, the most expensive player in the IPL 2024, on the other hand, responded by successfully catching a return to dismiss Sharma on the fifth delivery, bringing KKR back into the game.

With RCB needing three off one, Lockie Ferguson came to the crease as the last batsman. He nudged the ball to deep cover and tried to score a second run, but Phil Salt did an excellent job of knocking down the stumps to run out the New Zealand all-rounder. After openers Faf du Plessis (7 runs) and Virat Kohli (18 runs) left early, RCB batters Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar laid a solid foundation earlier, blasting 55 and 52 runs, chasing a massive total of 222.

Jacks and Patidar combined for a solid 102-off-48 score. On the other hand, Phil Salt and Shreyas Iyer’s remarkable innings, in which they scored 48 and 50, contributed to KKR’s impressive total. Additionally, Ramandeep Singh made an important cameo, scoring 24* off 9 shots, which significantly increased the team’s total. Additionally, Andre Russell and Rinku Singh crunched 24 and 27, respectively. Overall, KKR’s collective efforts resulted in a glorious victory.
